LavaFlow Redesign 2009

2009

LavaFlow is being redesigned, please bear with me while I reconstruct the site. As much of the content from the previous version of LavaFlow, covering interface design, software design, and graphical design will be ported when possible. In the meantime, LavaFlow will begin a rebirth as a place to blog about my industry, technology, maybe some code tips, brag about my beautiful hound dog Lotus and generally whatever else seems fit. Enjoy :)

LavaFlow Redesign 2009 – Update

06.18.2009

I completed the links from the menubar tonight. The content is still under development, and I expect that the About page will change dramatically. For lack of a clear starting point, and because of the state of the economy, I initially thought about this page like a resume. However, I'd much prefer to support the content from the home page, so I may be dramatically changing my approach on that page. It will be categorized according to the interests that I have either listed on this page, or new ones as they popup. Cheers!

Lotus is responding really well to her new Halti training collar. We bought it at the Galleria Cambridgeside Petco earlier this week. One of their puppy trainers helped me fit the collar, and while I was paying for it, I had to ask, "Is she still there?". If you ever trained a puppy to walk on a leash, you know what I mean -- the pulling stopped instantly. Granted we've been working on impulse control, but a happy 5-month old puppy at Petco can be just a tad overwhelmed (to say the least). Since then, she's been much better at heeling, and has been able to walk longer, and run. Bob reported that walking on the halter improved vastly, too. I attribute this both to her training, and to the recent addition of the Halti. Lotus ran over a mile with me today! Thank you, Halti.

Lotus: Problems in Paradise

06.16.2009

Lotus turned five months old on June 16, 2009. She's an absolute joy to everyone she meets. She was attacked today by a Beagle/Terrier mix who maybe wanted to play, but who scared the daylights out of my sweet little girl puppy -- too aggressive and growling. Luckily it ended without any real harm. Lotus lesson #1 was some dogs don't like to play with me. Lotus lesson #2 was some dogs play way too rough for me.

Another purpose to the new LavaFlow is to give me a venue to explore new coding interests such as social networks and software visualization, as well as share some of my hobbies, ponder e-book readers and pdas, and maybe even delve into some political commentary and poetry. Eventually it will all come to a cohesive whole.
