SVG and Video in HTML 5

Welcome to the OpenWeb

SVG and <Video> Example 1

This video was recorded using a Motorola Droid phone on January 22, 2010 at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. It transferred to my laptop as .3gp. I used QuickTime to resize and export it as an H264 .mov file. Of the three major browsers that support SVG -- Firefox, Chrome and Safari -- Firefox supports only .ogg (welcome to the OpenWeb), so I used iMovie to export the movie using QuickTime and XiphQT to convert it to .ogg. Sigh, what a lot of manipulations just to get a relatively cross browser example working. Feels like 1998 all over again. 8-)

Turn down your headphones when playing -- it is loud!

Does the video tag work in different browsers with the source as coded?

Browser Audio Video
Chrome Yes Yes (.m4v, not .ogg)
Firefox Yes Yes
Internet Explorer Not supported Not supported
Opera Not supported Not supported
Safari Yes* Yes*

*Seems to depend on the speed of the connection. On a slower wireless connection, the video and audio may not load. There may be positioning issues with respect to the video or the svg coded button.
